Rabat – A significant portion of humanitarian aid Morocco sent to the Gaza Strip has been dispatched following instructions from King Mohammed VI.
The aid was delivered in coordination with the Egyptian Red Crescent and consisted of 25 tons of food, water, medicine, and other essential medical supplies from Morocco.
The supplies were delivered using two Moroccan military planes, which landed at El Arish Airport in eastern Egypt last Wednesday.
Last Thursday, King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, gave instructions for the dispatching of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
The aid included substantial quantities of food and medical supplies that were given to the Palestinian Red Crescent Hospital in Jerusalem last Thursday.
Bayt Mal Al Quds announced in a statement that the aid provisions were designated for primary healthcare and social institutions.
The news comes as the four-day truce between Hamas and Israel is still in effect. Israel and Hamas agreed on Wednesday to a four-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to allow for humanitarian aid and the exchange of hostages.
Under the terms of the truce, Hamas will gradually release 50 Israeli hostages, while Israel is set to release 150 Palestinian women and children it holds captive.
The truce, which was mediated by Qatar, the US, and Egypt, marks a first in Israel’s nearly two months of relentless bombardment of Palestine, which had claimed the lives of over 15,000 people.
Hamas has already released a second group of captives, consisting of 13 Israelis and four Thai nationals, as part of the agreement.
The transfer faced a delay because Hamas accused Israel of violating the truce by not allowing aid to flow into northern Gaza.
