Rabat – Mexican actress Melissa Barrera does not regret speaking her mind about Israeli aggression, despite it leading to her getting fired from the next Scream film for her pro-Palestinian social media posts.
The production company of the horror movie released a statement on Wednesday, claiming that it had “zero tolerance for antisemitism.”
The actress, however, defended her position, saying that she prays “days and night for no more deaths, for no more violence and for peaceful coexistence.”
“I will continue to speak out for those that need it most and continue to advocate for peace and safety, for human rights and freedom. Silence is not an option for me,” she concluded.
Many actresses and actors from international cinema have taken a stance to denounce Israeli aggression, which has targeted civilians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank since October 7.
One of the latest celebrities to speak up against the situation in Gaza was Luke Brooks, an American actor who expressed his frustration over the killing of thousands of children by Israeli occupation forces.
Brooks published a TikTok video, in which he appealed for action to save Palestinian children murdered by Israeli aggression.
The actor started the video by recalling his personal experience with his son’s illness. He said after taking his son to the hospital and being reassured by doctors, they returned home knowing that his child would eventually feel better.
Upon his return and he scrolled through his TikTok, all he could see were Palestinian parents carrying the bodies of their children, he said in tears. In response, Brooks called on all parents around the world to act to save the children of Gaza.
Superstar Angelina Jolie has been also renewing her frustration over the situation in Gaza.
“Gaza has been an open-air prison for nearly two decades and is fast becoming a mass grave,” she said in a post earlier this month, noting that 40% of those killed are children.
