Join on Telegram Rabat – Former Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for what he deemed a double standard in Turkey’s response to Israel’s aggression on Gaza.
He particularly questioned why Turkey continues to provide petroleum and aviation fuel to Israel while denouncing the Israeli offensive against Gaza.
Davutoglu acknowledged Erdogan’s recent statement during his press conference in Germany, where the Turkish president said: “We are not indebted to Israel.”
Speaking during the Future Party’s Ordinary Congress in Konya, Davutoglu applauded this stance but shifted the focus to what he saw as a contradiction in actions.
“If we are not indebted,” Davutoglu questioned, “why then do petroleum shipments continue from the port of Ceyhan to Israel? Why is aviation fuel for Israeli planes supplied by us, if the food sustaining Israeli soldiers is also sent from our end? It’s a disgrace, a shame upon you!”
“You claim that if we leave governance, Baghdad will fall. If we leave governance, Jerusalem will fall. If we leave governance, Gaza will fall,” The former prime minister continued. “And when Gaza falls, you do nothing. Is that how it is?”
Davutoglu expressed deep concern over the situation in Gaza and urged sincerity in addressing the humanitarian crisis, saying: “Our hearts are breaking. If you are truly sincere, stop the oil shipments to Israel now to prevent the use of Israeli aviation.”
He added that Turkey should not fall victim to its selfishness amid the atrocities that are happening in Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and Gaza.
