Rabat – Algeria secured the bronze medal after beating Morocco 3-2 in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in the bronze-medal match.
Morocco took the lead through Kautar Azraf, who opened the scoring and sent the Atlas Lionesses into the half-time break with a 1-0 advantage.
Morocco thought they had doubled their lead in the second half when Maryam Atiq found the back of the net. However, the goal was disallowed, leaving Morocco with a narrow one-goal advantage.
Algeria continued to push for an equaliser and eventually found it in the 83rd minute through Lina Boussaha, who brought the score level at 1-1.
Neither side managed to find a winning goal before the final whistle, sending the bronze-medal clash to a penalty shootout.
Algeria held their nerve from the spot to win 3-2 on penalties, securing third place and the bronze medal.
Morocco, meanwhile, finished fourth after a hard-fought encounter that saw the Atlas Lionesses surrender their lead late in the match.
