Rabat – An Israeli missile targeted the entrance of Al Shifa Hospital on Friday, which houses over 5,000 patients. Dozens of people were killed and wounded in the attack, Al Jazeera reports.
The new attack is part of the Israeli ongoing massacres and ruthless shelling of mainly civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, hospitals, and places of worship.
“We informed the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, we informed the whole world, that these victims were lined up in these ambulances,” said Ashraf al-Qudra, spokesman for the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza.
The ambulances were carrying 15-20 critically wounded patients. The patients were going to Rafah crossing with Egypt to seek treatment abroad. “These were critically wounded victims we cannot attend [to] at the hospital,” the spokesman added.
Al Shifa is the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip. In a press conference, the Hospital said they demand international protection for ambulances as they have been targeted on al-Rashid Street.
Over the past few days, the hospital has repeatedly requested the Red Cross to escort staff to the Rafah crossing point, but an ambulance was hit.
As of Friday, more than 9,227 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli army’s relentless air raids on Gaza since October 7.
Israel’s aggression in Palestine continues amid international condemnations and calls for a ceasefire.
