Rabat – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to break their silence and condemn the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza.

“The world remains silent. The United States and the West are all silent,” Erdogan decried during the ECO’s 16th summit in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, drawing attention to the alarming toll of the Israeli assault on Gaza.

“Almost 11,000 people have been killed in Gaza in the last month, with 73 percent of the victims being women and children,” he detailed.

Speaking directly to the leaders present, Erdogan urged them to “choose the right side of history” and put an end to the relentless attacks on Palestinian civilians.

He emphasized the severity of the situation, asserting: “The Israeli administration continues to bomb schools, mosques, churches, hospitals, and universities, infringing on all the values of humanity.”

“If we as Muslims do not raise our voices today, when will we?” Erdogan questioned, seeking solidarity among ECO nations in condemning the actions of Israel and demanding a halt to the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

The president also expressed Turkey’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Gaza, stating that since the onset of the Israeli aggression, his country has sent 10 planes carrying 230 tons of aid to Egypt’s El Arish Airport.

As a result of the Israeli military’s ongoing ground operations, approximately 15,000 Palestinians fled the northern part of the besieged strip on Tuesday.

This mass exodus compounds an already critical humanitarian situation, with over two million Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territory in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

As the Israeli aggression enters its second month, the toll on Gaza’s population has been devastating. Over 10,500 Palestinians have lost their lives so far, including 4,324 children and 2,823 women, with more than 26,000 sustaining injuries.
