Rabat – Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit renewed his country’s support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan during the 15th MEDays international forum on Wednesday.

During his speech at the opening of the event, Skerrit reiterated his country’s support for the country’s Autonomy Plan, describing it as the “only credible and serious” basis to end the dispute over Western Sahara.

He also highlighted the increasing international support for the autonomy initiative, reflected in the opening of several diplomatic representations in Dakhla and Laayoune.

Commending on UN Security Council Resolution 2703, the Dominican PM stressed that a just and lasting solution is essential.

Skerrit also expressed gratitude for Morocco’s support for the country’s reforms, including in the education and agriculture sectors.

The MEDays forum convenes 250 speakers, political and economic lawmakers, as well as 5,000 participants from nearly 100 countries.

Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Szijjarto also made a speech at the opening of the forum on Wednesday, where he discussed several challenges including migration.

“There can be no solution to migration challenges without strong and respectful relations between Europe and Africa,” he said.

Szijjarto also expressed support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan ahead of the forum, during a press conference following his meeting with Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita.

“In our firm belief, the Autonomy Plan presented by Morocco offers hope for a resolution to this conflict while respecting the UN resolutions,” said  the top Hungarian diplomat.

He added that his country actively supports the Autonomy Plan on various international platforms, referencing Hungary’s recent intervention with the European Union’s Court of Justice on the matter.
