Rabat – Algerian commentator Hafid Derradji found himself at the center of social media discussions after his prediction for the Algeria-Argentina match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup went spectacularly wrong.
Before kickoff, Derradji confidently predicted a 3-0 victory for Algeria over defending champions Argentina.
“My prediction for the Algeria vs Argentina match? I’d say 3-0 for Algeria,” the Algerian commentator said ahead of the game.
However, the final result turned out to be the exact opposite.
With a historic hat-trick from Lionel Messi, Argentina defeated Algeria 3-0 in Kansas City to begin their World Cup campaign with a win, securing three points.
The result quickly sparked reactions online, with many fans highlighting the contrast between Derradji’s prediction and the final scoreline.
Messi’s three goals not only secured victory for Argentina but also allowed him to equal the World Cup all-time scoring record with 16 goals.
