Rabat – German club Bayern Munich announced that Moroccan international football player Noussair Mazraoui will be out of service due to injury.
Mazraoui as well as Kingsley Coman will both be out of service in their upcoming games as they both sustained injuries.
The club said Coman caught a “muscle fibre tear in his right thigh during the Champions League match at Manchester United on Tuesday night.”
Mazraoui also picked up a muscle bundle tear in his left thigh, the club said.
“This was confirmed by tests carried out by the medical department following the return to Munich on Wednesday.”
The injury comes a few weeks ahead of the start of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will see Morocco’s participation in January 2024.
Mazraoui is one of the key football players that took part in important competitions with the Atlas Lions, including the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as well as the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) put Morocco in Group F, along Democratic of Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania.
The competition will kick off on January 13, 2024, with a month of intense and potentially thrilling football action.
The final game will take place on February 11, 2024.
Morocco’s Atlas Lions are among the favorites to win the AFCON 2023 after their historic World Cup 2022 appearances.
