British Tank Commander Criticized for Celebrating Role in Israel’s Aggression in Gaza

Rabat – Amid Israel’s bloody war on Palestinians, 20-year-old British tank commander Tamara expressed pride in her position as a commander in Israel’s all-female tank unit, the 33rd Caracal Battalion.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Tamara said that she sees her role as a “dream come true” and emphasized the importance of women in combat.

Her remarks ignited widespread controversy, with critics shocked at her pride in being a willing participant in Israel’s genocide and military operations in Gaza that killed more than 15,000 innocent civilians.

Some even argued that Tamara’s participation in the Israeli military is a violation of law under the UK’s Foreign Enlistment, warranting investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

Critics also pointed to the suffering in Gaza and decried the praise of individuals like Tamara under the narrative of heroism.

They argued that the focus should be on the hardships faced by women in Gaza, rather than celebrating those complicit in Israel’s genocide as trailblazers in an all-female military unit.

“My comrades and I are women of action – we are more than ready to fight. Women can operate in any field and my unit is one of the best in the battalion and I’m very proud of them,” Tamara told the Daily Mail.

She went on to stress her unit’s direct involvement in Israel’s relentless attacks on Gaza, as well as their readiness for any combat scenarios.

“Our tanks were sent into Gaza and are always ready for battle. We were moved into areas where they needed to be,” she said.

Since it launched its murderous and increasingly genocidal Gaza campaign on October 7, the Israeli military has caused widespread devastation in Gaza.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Israel’s punitive war in Gaza has destroyed over half of the region’s residential units and deliberately targeted schools and hospitals, which became a shelter for displaced individuals.
