Rabat – The Moroccan women’s national football team will face Tunisia in February as part of their preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The teams are set to face each other over two legs, on February 23 and 28.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) also announced on Sunday that the team will hold training sessions between December 18 and 21 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.
The federation invited 27 players to participate, including local players from clubs such as AS FAR, Sporting Casablanca, and RS Berkane.
They also invited players plying their trade in foreign leagues and clubs such as Belgium’s KV Mechelen and Michigan Women’s Soccer Club.
Morocco has recently played two friendly matches against Uganda in preparation for the Olympics. The Atlas Lionesses drew their first game 1-1 on December 1 and won the second 3-0 on December 5.
Women’s football in Morocco has witnessed a rapid growth in the past few years with the Atlas Lionesses’ satisfying performances at both the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and the World Cup.
In the latest FIFA rankings, Morocco’s team came in third on the African continent, after Nigeria and South Africa.
