Rabat – Moroccan head coach Walid Regragui has announced the starting XI who will perform in tonight’s game against South Africa as part of the Round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
Regragui’s starting team includes Yassine Bounou, Noussair Mazraoui, Achraf Hakimi, Nayef Aguerd, and Sofyan Amrabat.
Amine Adli, Salim Amallah, Abde Ezzalzouli, Azzedine Ounahi, Ghanem Saiss, and Youssef En-Nesyri are also a part of the starting line-up.
Keys players Hakim Ziyech Sofiane Boufal is noticeably absent from today’s starting squad due to injury.
This will not be the only AFCON game that Boufal will miss, as head coach Regragui revealed his ankle injury has effectively ended his journey at the AFCON.
Luckily, Ziyech, who scored Morocco’s winning goal against Zambia last week, will likely be able to join his teammates in upcoming matches.

In a pre-match conference on Monday, Regragui spoke about the team’s readiness for today’s game and their commitment to putting on a strong performance.
“We have no room for error, any mistake will eliminate us from the competition, and we will be out,” Regragui said.
He acknowledged that it is going to be a “tough game,” but stressed that the Atlas Lions are ready for the challenge.
