Rabat – The death toll from the Israeli Occupation Force’s (IOF) aggression in Gaza has surpassed a staggering 26,000.
At least 183 innocent civilians were killed and 377 wounded in the past 24 hours, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
Meanwhile, nearly 64,487 Palestinians have been injured since the war on Gaza began in October.
The Israeli army is still relentlessly targeting refugee camps and public facilities across Khan Younis in Southern Gaza.
In addition, the Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis is currently under siege, with Israeli tanks firing at its eastern gate. This has resulted in injuries and caused fragments to scatter inside the building.
“The hospital is under siege with heavy gunfire, resulting in several injuries in the vicinity,” the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said on X, formerly Twitter.
The situation in Gaza –especially in the south –is extremely dire, with overcrowded living conditions, inadequate hygiene practices, and lack of drinking water and food.
This has led to an alarming spread of diseases and infections among the already vulnerable population.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned of a rapid increase in the spread of Hepatitis A in overcrowded, internally displaced people (IDP) camps.
“Suspected cases [are] almost 16 times higher in January so far compared to the whole of November 2023,” UNRWA said in a post on X.
Exacerbating the crisis is the cold and rainy weather in Gaza, which the UN human rights office (UNHCR) said is making living conditions “completely uninhabitable.”
The occupation forces’ aggression has extended to the West Bank, where the Israeli army has killed at least 370 Palestinians and injured more than 4,250 people.
