Rabat – Hosted at the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe, Equatorial Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire will play their third group stage match today, as part of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The match will start at 6 p.m. Moroccan Time and the following channels will broadcast the game live: Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League, and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.
Equatorial Guinea’s AFCON debut has apparently been well-managed by the head coach Juan Micha, who “intends on approaching Monday’s match against the wounded Cote d’Ivoire just like any other of the AFCON,” according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
In their opening match against Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea managed to end the encounter with a 1-1 draw, while they dominated their second meeting against Guinea-Bissau 4-2.
This result enabled the Equatorial Guinean team to lead the Group A standings with 4 points, followed by Nigeria which also harnessed 4 points, with a goal difference in favor of the former team.
However, the matter has become more complicated for the host nation Cote d’Ivoire, which is placed third with 3 points earned from a single win over Guinea-Bissau.
To bounce back from its loss to Nigeria and qualify for the round of 16, Cote d’Ivoire will exert every possible effort to clinch a victory against the Guinean team that has the potential to spark a surprise in the ongoing tournament.
