Rabat – As part of the drive to modernize and improve accessibility to services for Moroccans living abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Resident Abroad (MRA) has introduced an innovative procedure for the delivery of “local consular services.”
The creative approach, a testament to the King’s commitment to the well-being of MRA, not only addresses the growing need for modernized consular services but also aims to meet the expectations of users by providing interactive and contemporary consular services in proximity.
To implement this procedure, the Ministry engaged in coordinated efforts with relevant partner departments, leading to the establishment of the Centralized Electronic Registry of Consular Registrations on October 23, 2023.
This registry ensures that unique credentials remain unaffected by changes in the designated consular post, accompanied by the integration of new software upgrades to comprehensively encompass all facets of this reform.
The Centralized Electronic Registry allows MRA to request appointments for various consular services such as passports, national identity cards, notarial acts, legalization, and attestations.
Applicants can present themselves at any consular post within the Kingdom’s network to receive the requested consular services.
A trial phase for the issuance of consular services in proximity commenced on November 13, 2023, at Consular Posts in France, followed by the implementation in Consulates General in Spain on November 20, 2023.
Following successful trials in Spain and France, the decision was made to extend this innovative solution, which meets the need to modernize and bring consular services closer together, to all Diplomatic Missions and Consular Posts of the Kingdom.
Moroccans residing abroad can now submit appointment requests and receive all aforementioned consular services at all Diplomatic Missions and Consular Posts of the Kingdom, excluding services related to civil status.
