Rabat – Court documents connected to a list of associates of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein are to be disclosed soon.
The documents, linked to a lawsuit involving Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate and girlfriend, are poised to uncover names that were once redacted.
While the identities of these figures remain unknown, speculations indicate that the list features a number of prominent figures, including politicians, business magnates, and even royalty, a report from the New York Times indicates.
Epstein, who allegedly preyed on underage girls, died by suicide in 2019 while facing federal sex-trafficking charges in the US. His confidante, Maxwell, was convicted in 2021 for her involvement and sentenced to a 20-year prison term.
The highly anticipated release of court documents follows a defamation lawsuit against Maxwell initiated by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s victims.
The NYT report argues that former US President Bill Clinton is likely among the names that are set to appear on court documents. However, the report adds that appearing on the list doesn’t necessarily indicate involvement in Epstein’s illicit activities.
Despite reports linking Clinton with Epstein, there’s no hard evidence of alleged wrongdoing, and Giuffre hasn’t accused Clinton of any misconduct. His office reiterated a previous statement stressing that Clinton was unaware of Epstein’s crimes.
Amid the fervor, names such as Prince Andrew, who settled a lawsuit accusing him of sexual abuse in 2022, are also expected to surface within the court files.
Epstein, one of the world’s most notorious sex offenders, was known to associate himself with US high society and beyond. His list of connections includes celebrities like actors Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker. Epstein is also known to have advised and consulted Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk.
The lawsuit was settled in 2017 under seal. However, documents have been gradually released to the public at the request of media organizations.
