Rabat – With just a few days to go before the much-anticipated continental tournament, players from Morocco’s national football team have confirmed that preparations for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), which begins in Cote d’Ivoire on January 13, are going well.
During a training session on Wednesday, Morocco’s striker, Ayoub El Kaabi, said in a statement to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) that “the exercises are taking place in a positive atmosphere and we aspire to achieve positive results in the CAN.”
The preparations are “perfect” and there is positive energy prevailing among the players, added the Olympiacos player, stressing that “this atmosphere must be reflected on the field in order to achieve results that will please the Moroccans.”
For his part, explosive winger Sofiane Boufal said that all the members of the national team are more determined than ever to rise to the AFCON challenge in this year’s tournament.
“The squad is trying to prepare better. We are aware that this competition will not be easy, but we are determined to take on the challenge and achieve satisfactory results,” said Bouffal, vowing that the Atlas Lions will do their utmost to clinch the African title.
The Atlas Lions will compete in Group F of the group stage matches alongside DR Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania.
