Despite Morocco’s individual ranking, the global scenario reveals a concerning trend. The 2024 Social Progress Index signals an overall decline in social progress worldwide.
Of the 170 countries assessed, 61 witnessed a significant downturn in their social progress in 2023, while 77 remained stagnant. Only 32 nations demonstrated tangible advancements, marking the first global recession in social progress in the past decade.
The slowdown is primarily attributed to declines in the health sector, rights, voice, and information and communications.
Nations grappling with these challenges collectively contribute to a less optimistic global social landscape, emphasizing the urgency for coordinated efforts and renewed commitments to address these vital issues.
