Rabat – A devastating fire that broke out around 6:30 AM today at the Corniche Complex in Casablanca has been successfully contained with no reported human casualties, according to a statement from the complex’s management.
The incident impacted a section of the complex, resulting in extensive material damage, added the statement. This includes Le Beret restaurant, with videos shared online showing the substantial property damage.
The complex said it promptly initiated its emergency response plan as soon as the fire alarm was raised, with its security service taking immediate action.
It added that the Casablanca Fire Department demonstrated quick responsiveness and managed to bring the fire under control within a short timeframe.
“We would like to extend our warmest thanks to authorities and everyone who helped us deal with this incident,” the statement stressed, commending the firefighters for their efforts.
The complex’s management underlined its commitment to prioritizing the safety of both customers and employees.
In addition, it stressed that efforts are underway to facilitate the prompt return of customers under optimal conditions.
The Corniche Complex concluded that it remains focused on ensuring the well-being of all involved individuals, noting that it will keep customers informed on the date of the next reopening once they restore normalcy.
While the complex did not reveal the circumstances that led to the fire, converging reports suggested that it erupted due to an electrical short circuit.
The complex covers an area of 5,000 square meters, with a capacity of more than 2,000 people.
