Rabat – Moroccan Youssef Tazi became on Saturday the first Moroccan or Arab to climb and reach the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest peak in Africa.
With this achievement, Tazi has etched his name in history as the youngest Moroccan, Arab climber to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro.
When he reached the top of the mountain, Tazi, wearing the Moroccan flag, shot a video sharing his experience with social media users.
“I feel a tremendous sense of pride in accomplishing this historic feat, becoming the youngest Moroccan and Arab mountain climber to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro, towering at an impressive elevation of 5895 meters,” he said.
In a statement endorsed by his father, Omar Tazi, the young adventurer emphasized that his accomplishment serves as an inspiration for the youth in Morocco, encouraging them to pursue their dreams.
“This achievement not only elevates my personal standing but also brings honor to my entire country,” Tazi stated.
Standing on the snow-covered summit of Kilimanjaro, the young climber reflected on the significance of representing Morocco on the global stage.
“I am thrilled to represent my country with pride on the international platform and to inspire the children and youth of our beloved nation,” he said.

Every step towards the summit, according to Tazi, symbolized an extra stride toward the realization of his dreams. He expressed hope that his journey sends a powerful message not only within Morocco but also beyond the borders of Africa.
“The key to reaching the summit in all fields lies in self-confidence and belief in the rising generations,” Tazi emphasized.
While Tazi did not provide details about the exact duration of his climb up Kilimanjaro, he revealed that his passion for scaling high mountains has been nurtured since childhood.
He acknowledged the unwavering support of his family, particularly his father, Omar Tazi, whom he described as a strong supporter and significant motivator.
The young climber recounted previous achievements, including scaling Mount Ararat, the highest peak in Turkey, and explained that this recent success follows the duo’s climb of 27 mountain peaks in Morocco, seven of which surpassed an altitude of 4000 meters.
