Rabat – Moroccan defender Issa Diop shared his enthusiasm ahead of his first continental away match, stressing that the squad remains fully focused on securing victory over Lesotho in their AFCON qualifying fixture.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the defender admitted that playing in South Africa presents a new experience for him.
“This is my first time in South Africa, and it will be my first match outside Morocco in Africa,” the Moroccan International said.
Acknowledging the demands of competing on the continent, Diop underscored his motivation while recognizing the tough environment waiting for the team.
“This is something new for me, but I am very excited to take on this challenge, because we know that away matches in Africa are tough, and I hope we show our best side tomorrow to win this match,” he added.
Addressing any potential concerns about adapting to the local conditions, the Moroccan international hailed the technical staff’s support while reaffirming the team’s complete readiness.
“Adaptation is less difficult for us because we have a staff that knows the players well and provides us with all the information we need. As the coach said, we have no excuses; we are very well prepared, and we hope to win this match,” Diop explained.
The clash between Morocco and Lesotho is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at Bloemfontein’s Toyota Stadium, with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m GMT.
During Sunday’s training session in Bloemfontein, Morocco focused on tactical drills and technical execution.
According to the FRMF, every member of the travelling squad participated, while center-back Nayef Aguerd stayed behind in Morocco to carry out his individualized fitness program.
