Rabat – A source from Morocco’s Royal Football Federation denied that Morocco received an invitation for the Atlas Lions to participate in the upcoming Copa America, scheduled in the United States from June 20 to July 16.
The source confirmed to SNRTnews that “the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has not received any invitation from the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) regarding the national team’s participation in the Copa America finals.”
Many websites and pages on social media circulated news indicating that “the Moroccan national football team has received an invitation to participate in the ‘Copa America 2024’ finals, which will be organized in the United States of America.”
The previous edition of the “Copa America” witnessed the participation of two teams from outside the American continent: Qatar and Japan.
The tournament will include sixteen teams – ten from CONMEBOL and six from CONCACAF.
