Rabat – Customs and security personnel at the Bab Sebta (Ceuta) border crossing, on the Moroccan side of Tarajal, apprehended an Algerian citizen on Friday morning, El Faro De Ceuta reported.
The individual, a French resident driving a Renault vehicle, was found in possession of a pistol, ammunition, a bulletproof vest, and over €30,000 in cash.
The arrest occurred during a routine security check, similar to those conducted to search for narcotics or illegal immigrants, according to the Spanish news outlet.
Following a thorough inspection of the vehicle, officers discovered a pistol, approximately 20 bullets, and a bulletproof vest.
In addition, several bottles suspected to contain drugs and a sum exceeding €30,000 were also found in the Algerian citizen’s vehicle.

The detained individual, believed to be under 30 years old, was transferred to the judicial police of the Tangier Security Directorate for further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
The incident adds to recent seizures of narcotics, including a notable operation resulting in the confiscation of 86 kilograms of hashish concealed within gas bottles, the report noted.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the type and origin of the pistol, as well as the intended use of the seized materials.
