Rabat – Ridouan Taghi, a former Europe’s most wanted suspect, has received a life imprisonment sentence along with two other defendants for organized crime and assassination charges.
NL Times reported the news today, and said that the charges issued by the Dutch court that Taghi and the other defendants had included six assassinations, four attempted killings and plans to murder several others.
Three other defendants received sentences ranging between 15 and 29 years in prison while other 11 suspects received sentences that ranged from 21 months to over 23 years, NL Times added.
Moroccan-Dutch Taghi, known as the leader of the Morocco mafia network, was arrested in the UAE in December 2019. He was later transferred back to the Netherlands for trial.
He was wanted for several murders in addition to drug trafficking.
Moroccan intelligence reportedly shared information that helped police in the UAE to arrest Taghi, who was hiding in the Gulf country.
He was also linked to the Cafe La Creme shooting, which took place in November 2019 in Marrakech.
The shooting resulted in the murder of a medical student and caused injuries to a classmate.
Moroccan mafia also known as Mocro Maffia is known for criminal activities, including cocaine and cannabis trafficking as well as money laundering.
