Rabat – Tarek Sektioui, the head coach of Morocco’s U23 football team, has called up 27 players for the upcoming friendly matches against Ukraine and Wales, scheduled for March 22 and 26 in the Turkish city Antalya.

The list includes Alaa Belaarouch, Rachid Ghanimi, and Walid Hasbi as goalkeepers.

In defense, Sektioui called up Amine Et-Taibi, Aymane El Wafi, Mehdi Boukamir, Mohamed Jaouab, Omar El Hilali, Zakaria El Ouahdi, Achraf Laaziri, Ayoub Amraoui, and Adam Aznou.

Completing the list are midfielders Benjamin Bouchouari, Aimen Moueffek, Oussama Targhaline, Mohamed Nassoh, Younes Taha, Yassine Kechta, and Mehdi El Moubarik.

Meanwhile, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Salim El Jebari, Ibrahim Salah, Couhaib Driouech, Yanis Begraoui, Amine El Ouazzani, Tawfik Bentayeb, and Hamza Igamane feature in the front line.

The two friendly matches  are part of the Moroccan team’s preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games that will take place next summer in Paris, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) said in a statement today.

The Moroccan U23 squad will face Ukraine on March 22 at 7 p.m. Moroccan Time, and will take on Wales on March 26 at the same time and venue.

The squad earned their spot at the Olympic Games in Paris following their success at the U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in July 2023. Morocco won the continental tournament for the first time ever at the Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, defeating Egypt 2-1 in a thrilling final.
