Rabat – The Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Residing Abroad has announced that they will be sending a 274-member delegation of Islamic scholars, preachers, and Quran reciters to provide spiritual guidance to Moroccan expatriate communities in 14 countries during Ramadan 2024.

According to MAP, the delegation consists of 41 university professors, 38 PhD holders, 45 masters degree holders, 60 preachers, 60 Quran memorization teachers, and 30 imams who are tasked with leading the Tarawih extra night prayers. This group of 274 Islamic scholars and religious leaders will travel from March 9th to April 12th to provide spiritual guidance to Moroccan communities abroad.

They will lead religious lectures, guidance sessions, and Quran recitals for Moroccans living in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Canada, the United States, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Norway and Iceland during the holy month of Ramadan.

“As in previous years, the Hassan II Foundation has assembled a delegation of 274 Islamic scholars, preachers and Quran reciters to provide religious guidance and lead faith activities throughout the holy month of Ramadan, from March 9th to April 12th, 2024,” the statement said.

The spiritual accompaniment program, which the foundation has organized every Ramadan since 1992, aims to meet the religious needs and expectations of over 5 million Moroccans living abroad, the statement added.

On March 6th, the Hassan II Foundation will host an orientation meeting for 40 members of the delegation to review the program’s schedule and logistics before their deployment abroad.

The Hassan II Foundation is a non-profit public institution founded in 1990 by the late King Hassan II and presided over by HRH Princess Lalla Meryem. The foundation was established by royal decree to maintain ties between Moroccans abroad and their homeland and to help them overcome challenges related to emigration.

The foundation carries out cultural, legal, economic and social programs to serve the Moroccan diaspora. As a strategically important public institution, the appointment of the foundation’s delegated president is governed by Articles 49 and 92 of the Moroccan constitution, which relates to designations in senior public roles.

The foundation’s wide-ranging initiatives aim to preserve connections between Moroccan emigrants and their country of origin.
