Rabat – Shimco, a Canadian aerospace company, signed on Friday a strategic agreement with Midparc, an integrated industrial platform in Morocco.

The agreement paves the way for Shimco’s establishment in the free zone of Nouaceur, Casablanca.

Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi, President of Midparc, lauded the decision, citing Shimco’s attraction to Morocco’s aerospace base for its quality, competitiveness, and resilience, offering a one-of-a-kind business model.

Shimco is initially committed to constructing a production plan spanning 1,300 square meters module, with plans to double its capacity within the next three years and triple it within seven.

El Andaloussi emphasized the robust demand anticipated for Morocco’s aerospace offerings, with major players like Boeing and Airbus projecting orders spanning the next decade.

The announcement comes as Midparc’s contentment with the expanding market. Shimco’s decision solidifies Midparc’s position as an emerging hub for aerospace endeavors, with promises of more developments on the horizon.

Peter Voss, President and CEO of Shimco, stressed the advantages of Morocco’s business landscape, particularly in production costs. Establishing operations at Midparc presents an ideal opportunity, given the area’s emerging aerospace industry.

Midparc, an extension of Casablanca’s aerospace industries zone, boasts a prominent status in Morocco’s industrial landscape, already hosting giants like Boeing and Stelia Maroc.

Its strategic location offers logistical advantages at the crossroads of Europe and Africa.

In recent years, Morocco has invested significantly in its aerospace infrastructure, workforce development, and global partnerships to position itself as a hub for aviation activities.

The country’s favorable geographic location at the crossroads of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East is allowing it to serve as a pivotal hub for regional and international aviation, observers note.

In addition, the Moroccan government has provided unwavering support to the industry, implementing initiatives and offering incentives to attract foreign investors.

The establishment of aerospace industry clusters, such as the Midparc Free Zone near Casablanca, has further consolidated the nation’s aviation infrastructure.

To meet the demands of the aerospace sector, Morocco has prioritized the development of a skilled workforce. The Moroccan Aerospace Institute and other specialized training centers have been established to produce a pool of highly skilled professionals, ensuring the industry’s sustainability.
