Rabat – Morocco’s Tourism Office (ONMT) is setting its sights on the German tourism market, with the ambition to secure a strategic partnership with German operators in the sector.

ONMT’s General Director Adel El Fakir traveled along with a group of governmental and private tourist operators to Berlin to take part in the largest tourism fair in the region – ITB Berlin – taking place from March 507.

A statement from ONMT said that it deployed its resources to secure partnerships and agreements with German operators at the event.

“The goal is to enhance Morocco’s position in the German market, which is one of Europe’s largest outbound markets,” ONMT said.

Morocco has been investing heavily in the sector, aiming to attract millions of tourists to the North African country.

In 2023, Morocco recorded a record-breaking number of tourists estimated at over 14 million.

Looking towards the future, Morocco hopes to attract 17 million tourists by 2026 and 26 million by 2030.

“For this edition, we have set up a task force with the aim of boosting our presence on the German market, a strategic market for Morocco as a destination, which accounts for more than 67 million trips, 73% of which are abroad, with a preference for Mediterranean destinations”, El Fakir said.

During ITB Berlin, Morocco’s ONMT is promoting tourism assets in Agadir and Marrakech, one of the main tourism destinations in the North African country.

ONMT dedicated a 130 square meter stand showcasing the assets of the two cities which are known as popular destinations for German tourists.

“For this edition, we have set up a task force with the aim of boosting our presence on the German market, a strategic market for Morocco as a destination, which accounts for more than 67 million trips, 73% of which are abroad, with a preference for Mediterranean destinations”, El Fakir said.

Morocco’s tourism office also secured different important agreements with German tour operators, including one with Avec Der Touristik.

ONMT also signed additional agreements with Al Alltours and a third with Condor Airlines.
