Rabat – Morocco is promising “the best football event in the world and FIFA history” with the upcoming World Cup in 2030.
President of Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF) Fouzi Lekjaa made his remarks today in Lisbon, Portugal, which hosted the official ceremony for the organizing committee of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
“Our goal is common and one, namely organizing the best World Cup ever in the history of FIFA and football altogether,” Lekjaa said, noting the importance of hosting the global competition along with Morocco’s allies Spain and Portugal.
Lekjaa added that the common goal revolves around organizing a unique event, where sports mix with civilization, human values, and humanitarianism.
The bid also unites two continents, Lekjaa recalled, adding that Morocco, Spain, and Portugal have the full capacity and various resources that need to be mobilized to host this event.
The human and civilization dimensions are also important, Lekjaa said, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the three countries to ensure the best football event.
Last year in October, FIFA Executive Committee unanimously selected the joint bid from Portugal, Spain, and Morocco to host the World Cup 2030 since it was the only bid in the race for hosting the global tournament.
In July last year, King Mohammed VI emphasized the importance of the hosting bid, describing it as an “unprecedented candidacy which brings together two contents, Africa and Europe – as well as two civilizations.”
“It is a candidacy which unites the two shores of the Mediterranean and reflects the ambitions and aspirations of the peoples of the region for further cooperation, interaction, and understanding,” the monarch added.
During today’s event, the committee also unveiled the official slogan for the 2030 World Cup, hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. The slogan is “Yalla, Vamos 2030,” meaning “let’s go” in Arabic and Spanish.
