Rabat – Moroccan entrepreneurs are set to take center stage as applications open for 200 startups to participate in the upcoming GITEX Africa Morocco event.

This gathering, held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, brings together tech titans and aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase the latest advancements and foster groundbreaking partnerships.

This initiative, named “GITEX AFRICA Morocco 200,” is a collaboration between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and the Digital Development Agency (ADD).

Launched in September 2017, the ADD spearheads the state’s digital agenda. This includes implementing the state’s digital development strategy and promoting the adoption and use of digital tools by citizens.

The event, which  will take place in Marrakech from May 29 to 31,offers a unique platform for Moroccan startups to showcase their ideas and expertise to a global audience.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Moroccan startups to connect with investors, exchange experiences, and learn from best practices in innovative entrepreneurship,” said a joint statement from the Ministry and the ADD.

Selected startups will benefit from a comprehensive support package, including pre-event boot camps, access to potential investors, and dedicated matchmaking services. The aim is to equip them for success on the global stage.

Building on the success of the 2023 edition, which featured 100 startups, GITEX Africa Morocco 2024 doubled the capacity to highlight the growing importance of Moroccan innovation.

A rigorous selection process will be overseen by an evaluation committee composed of stakeholders from the Moroccan digital ecosystem, both public and private. Startups must be Moroccan legal entities or founded by Moroccans residing abroad.

Their projects must demonstrate innovation, scalability, and a clear value proposition.

The deadline for applications is April 8, 2024. Those selected will receive a heavily subsidized exhibition stand, access to workshops and coaching, and the chance to compete for a share of $100,000 in prizes.

They will also have the opportunity to network with over 1,800 exhibitors and investors, opening doors to potential partnerships and funding.

GITEX Africa Morocco 200 is a testament to Morocco’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and dynamic startup ecosystem. The event promises to be a launchpad for the next generation of Moroccan innovators, shaping the future of technology in the region.
