Rabat – The Judicial Police in Agadir apprehended five individuals, aged between 26 and 54, on Tuesday night on suspicion of possessing and trafficking drugs.
The operation, which began after receiving information from the General Directorate for National Territory Surveillance, resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of drugs, including 4.27 kilograms of cocaine and 32 kilograms of cannabis.
SNRT News quoted a security source as saying that three suspects were arrested during a security operation in the outskirts of Agadir.
The search led to the confiscation of two kilograms of cocaine and a significant amount of cash believed to be proceeds from illegal activities.
The main supplier was also apprehended while in possession of an additional two kilograms of cocaine.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the fifth suspect in Ait Melloul, a city in the suburban area of Agadir, where additional quantities of cocaine weighing 270 grams and 32 kilograms of cannabis were seized, along with electronic scales and mobile phones.
The suspects were cross-referenced with the national security database, revealing that one of them was the subject of a nationwide search warrant for drug trafficking offenses.
Four of the suspects have been placed under provisional detention pending further judicial proceedings under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office.
Meanwhile, the main supplier remains under medical supervision in a hospital after sustaining a knee injury while attempting to flee the scene by car.
Authorities are actively pursuing all possible leads and connections related to this criminal activity and are determined to uncover all criminal acts attributed to those involved, added the same source.
