Rabat – King Mohammed VI has extended his congratulations to Rachid Talbi Alami, President of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) parliamentary group, on his successful re-election as Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies for the remainder of the current legislative term (2021-2026).

Talbi Alami’s reaffirmation as Speaker came during a plenary session inaugurating the second session of the 2023-2024 legislative year. Securing a decisive 264 votes, Talbi Alami solidified his pivotal role in Moroccan politics.

The election process, meticulously adhering to the Chamber’s internal regulations, saw Alami emerge victorious as the candidate of the parliamentary majority.

His sole opponent, Abdellah Bouanou, President of the parliamentary group of the Justice and Development Party, garnered 23 votes, while 37 null ballots were recorded, not affecting the final tally.

Alami’s political trajectory highlights his prominence in Moroccan governance.

Previously serving as Minister of Youth and Sports in the El Otmani government from April 2017 to October 2019, his tenure has been marked by impactful contributions to both national and international arenas.

An adept international expert, particularly in decentralization and local financial systems, Talbi Alami’s professional endeavors have spanned continents.

His involvement in infrastructure reconstruction in the occupied Palestinian territories and consultation roles with prestigious institutions such as the University of North Carolina amplifies his global influence.

With his re-election, Alami continues to navigate Morocco’s political landscape, poised to steer the Chamber of Deputies with proficiency and vision, underlining his enduring significance in the country’s governance.

This reaffirmation of leadership not only consolidates Talbi Alami’s position but also highlights the country’s commitment to stable and effective governance, resonating both domestically and internationally.
