Rabat – Working in tandem with the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), members of the Sidi Kacem and Salé judicial police forces arrested two individuals with criminal records on Saturday, for their alleged involvement in the possession and trafficking of psychotropic drugs.
Two separate operations led to the arrest of these suspects. The first operation, which was carried out in Sidi Kacem, resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old man as he boarded a train coming from the north of the Kingdom, according to a security source.
The suspect was found in possession of 748 Ecstasy and Rivotril-type psychotropic tablets, in addition to a sum of money believed to be the proceeds of their drug dealing operations.
The second operation was carried out by the Salé judicial police, and led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man in possession of 1,750 Ecstasy-type psychotropic tablets, together with an amount of cash from this illicit business.
In order to investigate the details of these cases and all the criminal offenses they are suspected of, the defendants were held in police custody. This investigation is being carried out by the competent public prosecutor’s office.
On the same day, three individuals were arrested in Kenitra on charges of participating in drug trafficking and conducting an abortion procedure – which is illegal in Morocco.
The police apprehended the suspects, including a nurse, on sight while they were giving an illegal abortion to a lady inside one of the nurse’s apartments.
Police were able to confiscate medication, cash, injections, medical supplies, and a check made out to the woman having the abortion, thanks to search operations.
