A notice from the government official gazette has revealed the logo for Moroccan legalized cannabis products.

Printed in the official gazette, the logo displays green and red color. The border is outlined in red, while the interior features a cannabis leaf.

The official gazette notice emphasized that the logo should be used as a label on all legalized cannabis products.

It further emphasized that if the color used in the logo is not possible, the logo can be used in black and white.

The logo, however, should be clear when used, the official gazette further explained.

Morocco adopted Law 13-21 on the legal use of cannabis in 2021, positioning itself among a growing list of African countries that are approving the use of cannabis for therapeutic purposes.

Morocco backed its decision by arguing that this measure aims to ensure cannabis use for industrial sectors while cracking down on any illegal practices.

In 2023, Morocco’s first legal cannabis harvest reached 294 metric tons.

Last month, the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-related Activities (ANRAC) revealed that the harvest was made by 32 cooperatives. A total of 430 farmers covered 277 hectares in the northern Rif mountain areas, including in Al Hoceima, Taounate, and Chefchaouen, the statement detailed.

Morocco’s legalized cannabis law stipulates that the import and export of cannabis seeds and plants are subject to authorization issued by ANRAC.

The same law emphasizes that holders of import and or export permits must be Moroccan citizens.

Eligible applicants should meet age criteria and all the other conditions provided by regulations in force to allow them to produce and market cannabis seeds and seedlings.

“The certification may be withdrawn by ANRAC when the variety of cannabis can no longer meet the conditions on the basis of which the certification was granted in accordance with article 4 of the aforementioned decree,”  Morocco’s customs office said last year.
