Rabat- On Monday, Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs declared that the Gulf country will start Eid Al Fitr celebrations on Wednesday, April 10.
Experts confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon of Shawwal, the tenth month, in the Islamic calendar, in Qatar, indicating that Eid Al Fitr falls on Wednesday.
The Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that tomorrow, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, will be the last day of the holy month of Ramadan. It added that Wednesday, April 10, 2024, is the first day of the blessed Eid Al Fitr in Qatar, according to national TV.
In Qatar, as in most other Muslim nations, Eid Al Fitr festivities commence with communal prayers, with an emphasis on the inclusion of women and children, followed by a brief sermon delivered by the imam.
One of the popular Eid al-Fitr traditions t is the lighting of incense and oud sticks in homes, and majlises, where they welcome the guests with Arabian coffee and homemade sweets.
Zakat al-Fitr, or the Zakat of Breaking the Fast of Ramadan, is the special obligatory alms paid by all Muslims to other Muslims in need at the end of the Ramadan fasting month. Religious scholars set the value of “Zakat Al Fitr” annually.
In Qatar and other Muslim countries, children and family members traditionally receive Eidiyya, a monetary gift bestowed by older relatives or family friends as a cherished part of Eid al Fitr celebrations.
Qatari families also emphasize the importance of maintaining strong family bonds by visiting relatives and resolving any family conflicts during Eid.
Many families opt to gather at entertainment centers, shopping malls, and other venues to enjoy quality time together and celebrate this significant religious occasion.
