Rabat – King Mohammed VI is set to lead a religious vigil this evening at the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca in commemoration of Laylat Al Qadr, according to the Ministry of Royal Household, Protocol, and Chancellery.
The religious gathering will be broadcast live on radio and television at the time of the Al-Isha prayer.
The monarch will lead the vigil on Saturday, corresponding to the 26th day of the holy month of Ramadan. In Islamic tradition, Laylat Al Qadr is commonly believed to occur on the 27th night of Ramadan.
Laylat Al Qadr, also known as the Night of Decree, holds immense spiritual significance in Islam as it marks the night when the Quran was first revealed to Prophet Mohammad by angel Gabriel. In addition, it is considered the holiest night in Islam.
It is believed to occur during the last ten days of Ramadan, with particular emphasis on the odd-numbered nights, including the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, or 29th night.
Laylat Al Qadr is a night of immense blessings, forgiveness, and mercy, as well as an opportunity for deep reflection and seeking closeness to Allah. It is said that prayers and good deeds performed on this night are multiplied in their rewards.
Muslims around the world observe this night with great devotion and reverence. Many spend the night engaged in prayers, including the Tahajjud prayer.
Worshippers also dedicate time to recite the Quran, as well as engage in acts of charity and kindness.
