Rabat – The Court of First Instance in Ain Sebaa, Casablanca, has decided to postpone the case of radio host Mohamed Bousfiha, known as “Momo,” until next Thursday.
Accompanied by his lawyer, “Momo” attended today’s session where the delay was requested by the defense of the detained suspects in the case.
During the session, the representative of the public prosecutor filed a motion to add a new charge to the first and second defendants, relating to the dissemination of publications aimed at causing panic among citizens.
Defense lawyers also requested temporary release for their clients similar to “Momo” who was granted conditional freedom upon posting a bail of MAD 1 million.
The case revolves around accusations of fabricating an on-air robbery and broadcasting it on Hit Radio’s Momo Morning Show last month.
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) opened an investigation after a caller appeared to have been robbed on air while speaking to the host, Momo.
The incident garnered significant public attention, as the show later gave the individual who claimed to be robbed a new iPhone in another episode.
The investigation has reportedly revealed that the robbery was staged for personal gain and to boost the audience of both the show and Hit Radio.
Charges include fabricating fictitious crimes, spreading false information, compromising public security, and tarnishing the reputation of an organized entity.
Momo, who is currently under surveillance as part of the ongoing investigation, has maintained his Innocence.
Hit Radio has denied prior knowledge of the staged robbery and vowed to cooperate with authorities to establish the truth.
Meanwhile, the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) has urged journalists and broadcasters to uphold editorial accountability and report factual news.
