Rabat – Turkiye has announced April 10 as the first day of Eid Al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.

According to Al Jazeera, the Turkish Religious Affairs office has officially announced that Wednesday, April 10th, will be Eid Al-Fitr.

Eid Al-Fitr is also locally known as Seker Bayram or the “holiday of sweets,” according to Turkish news outlet the Daily Sabah.

Like in several other countries, Turkish people celebrate Eid through the exchange of family visits and gifts.

In addition to Turkiye, several other countries have similarly announced April 10 as the first day of Eid Al-Fitr, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, among others.

Some other countries are yet to confirm the official date of Eid Al-Fitr following the crescent moon sighting tomorrow.

Morocco is expected to see the crescent moon for Eid Al-Fitr on Tuesday and is also expected to announce Wednesday as Eid Al-Fitr.

Eid Al-Fitr corresponds to the first day of Shawaal, the tenth month in the Islamic calendar, which marks the end of Ramadan.

Muslims in some countries, such as Saudi Arabia and UAE will complete 30 days of Ramadan fasting while in others the holy month will only last 29 — including in Morocco.
