Rabat – The National Moroccan Tourism Office (ONMT) embarked on Tuesday a journey across the United States, showcasing the rich tapestry of Morocco’s tourism offerings.
With the launch of the second stage of its roadshow in Washington, the ONMT aims to captivate American travelers with the allure of Morocco’s diverse landscapes and cultural heritage.
With strategic stops in Miami, Washington, and New York, the roadshow aims to solidify Morocco’s presence on the East Coast.
On Tuesday, in Washington DC, ONMT held a kickoff event adorned with authentic Moroccan charm, and attended by dignitaries and media representatives. Among them was the Kingdom’s ambassador to the US, Youssef Amrani, who extolled Morocco’s millennia-old culture and heritage.
Emphasizing the fusion of tradition and modernity, in his remarks at the event, Amrani described Morocco as a mosaic where ancient customs intertwine with contemporary flair.
Highlighting Morocco’s natural splendor and renowned hospitality, Amrani extolled its appeal as a premier tourist destination. He also emphasized the country’s commitment to sustainable tourism and its welcoming embrace of global travelers.
Siham Fettouhi, ONMT’s Director for North America, outlined in remarks at the event the objectives of the promotional campaign. Fettouhi aims to elevate Morocco’s visibility and commercialization, positioning it as a top choice for American travelers.
Fettouhi also highlighted the addition of a direct flight between New York and Marrakech, operated by United Airlines, as a significant milestone in strengthening ties between the two nations.
The roadshow serves as a platform for Moroccan professionals to engage with American distributors and media influencers, fostering fruitful collaborations.
Designed to immerse guests in Moroccan culture, the roadshow offers authentic experiences, including traditional souks, ceremonial tea, and culinary delights.
These activities aim to leave a lasting impression on attendees, enticing them to explore Morocco firsthand.
According to ONMT statistics, American tourism to Morocco surged in 2023, reflecting a 19% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
With ambitions to attract one million tourists annually, Morocco is poised to further establish itself as a must-visit destination for adventure-seeking travelers from the United States.
