Paris Olympics 2024: France Minister Thanks Moroccan Security Services for Logistical Support

Rabat – France’s Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has extended his gratitude for Morocco’s operational and logistical support in the preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Darmanin made his remarks during his official work visit to Morocco, where he is holding a series of bilateral talks with senior officials.

Today, Morocco’s Minister of Interior Abdelouafi Laftit received Darmanin in Rabat to discuss common interests and ways to further boost cooperation in different sectors, including security.

Morocco has a rich history of efficient approaches to security threats. This approach made the country a widely applauded and reliable partner for many countries in the face of emerging security challenges.

In December last year, high level security officials from France and Morocco discussed cooperation to ensure security during the coming Olympic Games.

During his talks with Moroccan Minister of Interior Abdelouafi Laftit Today, Darmanin commented on Morocco’s approach to tackle security threats and migration challenges, stressing that this mechanism constitutes a “factor for regional peace and stability.”

He said that Morocco’s security approach establishes Morocco as a “bulwark” against threats and marks it as a reliable and credible partner on the international stage, particulalry among Mediterranean countries to the south.

During the meeting, Laftit reiterated Morocco’s comprehensive security approach to address security challenges, particularly terror threat.

Over the years, Morocco assisted many countries in maintaining security throughout prestigious events.

The North African country assisted Qatar to ensure security throughout the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

Darmanin’s visit comes as part of France’s commitment to mend bilateral ties with Morocco after a few years of political tensions the two countries experienced.

More French officials are expected to visit the country in the coming few weeks.
