Rabat- Bilal El Khannouss, the Moroccan international and star of the Belgian team Genk, has been crowned the best player in the Belgian league for the 2023-2024 season.
According to recent reports from AlmarssadPro, which cite close family, El Khannouss is rumored to join Bundesliga champion Bayer Leverkusen.
El Khannouss had an outstanding season with Genk, serving as an invaluable asset to coach Dominico Olivieri, who relied on him in 49 matches during the current season.
At just 20 years of age, the young Moroccan midfielder continues to attract attention from major clubs across Europe.
The Atlas Lion’s remarkable performances have not only earned him the title of best player of Moroccan origin in the Belgian championship but also the most valuable U23 player in Belgium as a whole, with his market value estimated to be 25 million euros by Transfermarkt.
The strong rumors that he will join Bayer Leverkusen comes after considerable interest from several top clubs, including Marseille, RB Leipzig, Liverpool, and Atlético Madrid.
However, according to Almarssad Pro and Belgian reports, the allure of playing in the Champions League and the opportunity to work under the guidance of iconic coach Xabi Alonso were significant factors in his decision.
