Rabat – GITEX Africa, the continent’s premier tech and startup event, is set to return for its second edition from May 29 to 31, 2024 in Marrakech. 

Following the resounding success of its inaugural event in 2023, this year’s edition aims to further establish itself as a key platform for exploring digital transformation, financial inclusion and economic empowerment across Africa.

The 2023 event was a landmark, drawing over 30,000 visitors, 900 exhibitors, and 250 speakers, creating a vibrant hub for knowledge sharing and collaboration. The 2024 edition aims to build on this momentum, featuring an impressive lineup of influential figures shaping Africa’s tech landscape.

The event will focus on how technology can revolutionize sectors like healthcare, education, agriculture, and finance. 

High-profile government officials, including Morocco’s Minister of Health;Khalid Ait Taleb, and Nigeria’s Honorable Minister of State at Health and Social Welfare; Dr. Tunji Alausa, are expected to provide insights on policy-making to support Africa’s digital journey. 

With fintech driving financial inclusion across Africa, experts including Monica Musenero Masanza, who holds a Master of Science in Technology and Innovation,  are anticipated to discuss innovative fintech solutions and their economic impact.

The evolving nature of work in the digital age will also be a focal point.

 American tech expert Sunita Grote is expected to lead discussions on preparing for technological changes in the workforce. Breaking down barriers to create a seamless digital trade environment across African nations will be another major theme, with experts exploring strategies to develop a cohesive digital market, enhancing trade and collaboration.

Gitex will highlight the development of smart cities and the importance of bridging the digital divide. Discussions will center on using technology to build efficient, sustainable urban infrastructures that improve connectivity and quality of life.

GITEX Africa 2024 will offer more than just keynote speeches. The event will feature a dynamic exhibition space where startups and established companies can showcase their latest innovations. Attendees will have numerous networking opportunities to connect with investors, entrepreneurs, and tech pioneers, fostering partnerships to drive Africa’s digital future.
