Rabat – Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of Morocco’s National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), participated in the official celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the National Police Force of Spain this week.
During the event, Hammouchi engaged in bilateral discussions with several of his Spanish counterparts, focusing on enhancing security cooperation, operational coordination, and technical assistance to combat various transnational threats such as terrorism, organized crime, illegal migration networks, human trafficking, and drug smuggling.
Hammouchi and the Spanish officials also discussed security challenges in the regional environment of both countries and explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation to address these issues collectively.
The celebrations, attended by the Spanish monarch King Felipe VI, highlighted the historical significance of the establishment of the National Police Force in Spain.
Hammouchi was accompanied by a security delegation representing the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance.
Hammouchi’s participation in this important event is a recognition of Morocco’s expertise in security matters.
As a leading figure in the fight against terrorism, Hammouchi is praised for his experience and intelligence, which have enabled him to dismantle numerous terrorist cells, both nationally and internationally.
The security and intelligence services of major powers regularly seek the advice and expertise of Hammouchi. His leadership in the fight against violence and organized crime has helped protect many countries from real threats.
Hammouchi’s presence at the bicentennial of the Spanish police is a symbol of Moroccan excellence in security and strengthens the cooperation between Morocco and Spain in tackling global security challenges.
The Spanish Police was created on January 13, 1824, by a royal decree of Ferdinand VII, then called the General Police of the Kingdom. A project to create the police had already been underway for several years but had never materialized due to political tensions.
