Rabat – The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Rabat announced today the upcoming 2024 Korea Culture Week, scheduled to take place from May 10-11, 2024, at the Renaissance Cinema in Rabat.
The cultural event aims to showcase the diverse aspects of Korean culture to the Moroccan public.
Attendees can expect a range of programs designed to immerse them in Korean traditions, cuisine, and music, among others, the embassy explained in a statement.
The festivities are slated to kick off on Friday, May 10, with an opening ceremony at 3:00 p.m. featuring distinguished guests such as Ambassador Yeonjean Yoon of the Republic of Korea, along with high-profile figures like Rabat Mayor Fatiha El Moudni and Mohamed Hichami, president of the Morocco-Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Following the ceremony, attendees will be treated to a performance of Buch-Eep-chumm, the traditional Korean fan dance, and a Taekwondo demonstration.
On Saturday, the event will feature a Korean speech contest, K-pop performances, and the K-pop Random Play Dance.
In addition to these performances, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of cultural activities led by the Korean community in Morocco, including sampling Korean cuisine and trying on the iconic Hanbok attire.
The Embassy is also set to organize a screening of two Korean films with French subtitles. On May 10, the screening will feature the comedy-action hit Extreme Job (2019), and on the second day the screening will feature Escape from Mogadishu (2021).
In its statement, the embassy said that it hopes the 2024 Korea Culture Week will serve as a bridge between the Moroccan and Korean peoples, fostering greater understanding and appreciation between the two cultures.
With over 60 years of strong bilateral ties, events like these only serve to strengthen the bond between Morocco and Korea, the statement explained.
