Rabat – King Mohammed VI reiterated today his condemnation of the blatant Israeli aggression targeting civilians in Gaza.
The monarch made his remarks in a speech to the 33rd Summit of the League of Arab States, which kicked off on Thursday in Manama, Bahrain.
In his speech, the King reaffirmed Morocco’s support for the Palestinian cause. He added that the situation in the region as a result of “blatant Israeli aggression” in Gaza “only enhances our determination to make sure the Palestinian issue remains at the core of efforts to establish a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.”
The King also renewed Morocco’s determination to continue to support Palestinians to regain their legitimate rights through the establishment of their independent sovereign states with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“The current reprisals in the Gaza Strip have revealed grave violations that are at odds with the provisions of international law and international humanitarian law,” he said today.
The monarch also reiterated his strong condemnation of the killing of innocent people in Gaza, as well as attempts to impress a new reality in the strip though attempting to forcibly displaced Palestinians.
He said that these attempts “will only aggravate the situation and further fuel violence and instability.”
The monarch also insisted on the need to accelerate the steady provision of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
The King echoed the same sentiment during his speech to the 15th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit Conference on May 4.
In his previous speech, the King condemned the brutal aggression on Gaza, saying that his heart “bleeds” for Palestinians who now live in “extremely dangerous conditions that are stain on the world’s conscience.”
“I reiterate my urgent call for an immediate, sustainable and comprehensive end to these unprecedented acts of aggression, and for allowing unfettered access of humanitarian aid to the entire Gaza Strip,” the King said.
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have killed over 35,233 people since October 7, and have injured 79,141 others.
Palestinian news agency Wafa said yesterday that the IOF committed five massacres against families across Gaza in the past 24 hours.
“Sources confirmed that a number of victims are still trapped under the rubble and scattered on the roads as ambulance and civil defense teams are facing difficulties in reaching them due to the relentless Israeli shelling,” the news agency added.
The massacre resulted in the killing of at least 60 civilians and the injury of 80 others.
