Rabat – Morocco has strongly condemned the Israeli military raid on a Palestinian refugee camp in Rafah’s Tal as-Sultan area, which has resulted in significant civilian casualties.

According to an official from Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the attack targeted a camp housing over 100,000 displaced Palestinians, causing dozens of deaths and injuries.

The Moroccan government criticized the raid as a “blatant” violation of international law and humanitarian principles.

King Mohammed VI of Morocco, who presides over the Al-Quds Committee, emphasized the need for Israel to comply with a ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The court has called for an immediate halt to Israeli military operations in Rafah. The Moroccan statement reiterated the country’s demand for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, the protection of Palestinian civilians, and the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid.

The call for international intervention includes ensuring that humanitarian assistance can reach the Gaza Strip through all crossing points, with specific mention of the Rafah crossing.

Morocco joins a long list of countries and international organizations calling for an end to Israel’s relentless war on Gaza.

Earlier today, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) described Gaza as “hell on earth” in the wake of Israel’s most recent massacre in Rafah.

Israel began its invasion of Rafah on May 6, despite widespread international backlash and even some of Israel’s long-standing allies opposing the plan, including the US.

Reports on Sunday indicated that Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) burned Palestinians alive in their tents in their latest massacre of Gazans.

In this latest attack, the IOF shelled a displacement camp in northern Rafah, killing at least 45 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

The war has claimed 35,900 Palestinian lives, leaving over 80,600 others injured.
