Rabat- Opium Paris, a renowned sneaker shop, has launched an original promotional video showcasing its latest collaboration with Nike. The two brands have united to create a unique version of the iconic Air Jordan 1, named the “Jordan Air Ship Zellige.”

Drawing inspiration from Morocco’s rich artisanal heritage, the new sneaker model incorporates a Moroccan twist, taking inspiration from the traditional art of zellige tilework.

French-Moroccan founders Mounir and Yace spearheaded the collaboration, aiming to celebrate their brand‘s cultural roots, creating a unique and visually striking product that celebrates the intersection of French and Moroccan culture.

The “Jordan Air Ship Zellige” merges the classic silhouette of the Air Jordan 1 with intricate zellige patterns, reflecting the vibrant and colorful aesthetic of Moroccan architecture and design.

This limited-edition release pays homage to the country’s artisanal legacy, offering sneaker enthusiasts a fresh and distinctive take on a beloved sneaker icon.

The promotional video, shot on location in Morocco, features the new sneaker model against the backdrop of the country’s stunning landscapes and historic sites. The visuals emphasize the integration of Moroccan influences into the design, creating a unique and visually striking collaboration between Opium Paris and Nike.

The video showcases young Moroccans sporting the new Jordans as they walk past elderly men in traditional jellabas playing checkers outdoors. The scene transitions to the group visiting an artisan in a bustling souk, observing the meticulous craftsmanship involved in creating Zellige, Moroccan tile art.

In an Instagram post, Moroccan-American rapper French Montana lauded Nike and Opium Paris for the shoe’s creativity. “We never thought this would ever be done. These sneakers are the official collaboration with Nike and our Moroccan brothers; it has Moroccan zellige on it,” he remarked.

This latest project from Opium Paris and Nike highlights the brand’s dedication to celebrating cultural diversity and incorporating global influences into its product offerings.

The “Jordan Air Ship Zellige” stands as a celebration of Moroccan craftsmanship and a testament to the power of cross-cultural collaboration in the world of sneaker design.
