Rabat – The Moroccan American Network is promising an exciting agenda for the 8th anniversary of the “Morocco Day” event in Washington D.C.
According to a statement, the event is part of the network’s commitment to boosting US-Morocco ties, promoting business-to-business interactions and entrepreneurship, in addition to showcasing Morocco’s cultural values and heritage on June 30.
The statement noted that the eighth anniversary of Morocco Day coincides this year with Morocco’s celebration of the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne.

“This year, ‘Morocco Day’ holds particular significance as it aligns with celebrations marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne,” the network said.
The statement also emphasized the event’s goal as an opportunity to celebrate the “longstanding” friendship between the US and Morocco, recalling that the North African country was the first country to officially recognize the US in 1777.
This, according to the network, highlights a “legacy of mutual respect and cooperation.”
Commenting on this year’s event agenda, the network promises visitors an experience with several activities, including cultural displays which are designed to celebrate Morocco’s heritage.
Guests will include diplomats, community leaders, and US guests, among others.
President of the Moroccan American network Mohammed El Hajjam stressed that the network is excited to celebrate the event, noting that “our community cherishes its heritage and the deep historical ties between our nations.”
El Hajjam emphasized that the event is also a “testament to our shared values and enduring friendship.”
Morocco Day is an event that the Moroccan community in the US celebrates every year.
The decision to celebrate Morocco Day on July 15 of every year and the month of July as a celebration of Morocco was formally recognized by the Washington DC mayor Muriel Bowser.
Justin Wilson, the mayor of Alexandria, Virginia, also signed a bill celebrating Morocco Day, designating July 10 in his city.
