Huawei hosted last week on the sidelines of the GITEX Africa event in Marrakech the “Huawei Digital Morocco Summit 2024.”
Themed “Accelerating Intelligence for a Digital Morocco,” the summit brought together over 100 participants from key sectors including finance, government, and B2B cloud services, with the aim of fostering a dynamic, resilient, and open digital ecosystem.
The event underscored three main pillars: the introduction of new infrastructures, the rise of a new ecosystem, and the development of innovative value propositions.
It featured several influential speakers, such as Colin Hu, CEO of Huawei Northern Africa Enterprise & Cloud Business Dept; Adou Xianjun, General Manager of Huawei Morocco Enterprise; and Jason Chenxiaolei, VP of Huawei Morocco.
Also on the list were Mounir Soussi, Vice President of Cloud BU Huawei Northern Africa; El Mehdi El Jair, Regional CTO for the financial services industry at Huawei Northern Africa; and Younes Qarmiche, Executive Sales Director of Huawei Morocco Financial Services Industry.
These experts provided deep insights into the future prospects and the challenges facing the sector.
Leading digital transformaation
Speaking at the meeting’s kick off, Hu highlighted the global trend of digital transformation.
“Digital transformation is revolutionizing countries and industries worldwide. It facilitates the development of digital infrastructure, accelerates the digital ecosystem, and introduces new values across various sectors of the national economy,” he said.
Hu spoke to Huawei’s determination to support Morocco in its digital transition by providing its expertise and advanced technologies. He also discussed the importance of the summit as a platform to discuss green, optimized digital transformation strategies that are intended in the private and public sectors.
Huawei Morocco reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to an inclusive and sustainable digital transformation. The summit emphasized the company’s pioneering role in facilitating and accompanying Morocco’s digital transformation.
As a leading telecommunications equipment supplier in Morocco, Huawei is at the center of the country’s efforts to digitize its economy and embrace the latest cutting-edge innovations in a wide range of fields.
Echoing Hu’s comments, other panelists drew attention to how Huawei’s initiatives can help foster digital productivity and create promising collaboration opportunities.

Discussions among experts focused on three major areas: Government, Finance, and Cloud.
The Huawei event comes as the financial sector is rapidly moving towards a digital world, with financial services integrated into daily scenarios focused on engagement rather than transactions.
Highlighting this financial digitization, experts at the summit said financial institutions in Morocco and worldwide will increasingly face the urgent choice of implementing reliable, secure, and resilient infrastructures and data intelligence platforms to unlock their full potential in terms of productivity and efficiency.
Continuous innovation positions Huawei as a leader in 10 product and solution dimensions and a top performer in 21 key segments, including public cloud, hybrid cloud, and cloud backup.
Speakers at the summit agreed that a successful digital transformation can only be fully realized if ecosystem players collaborate.
Highlighting the unique economic and social development opportunities that digital technologies offer Morocco, the event served as a platform for exchange and discussion on the state of the ICT sector, development strategies for digital transformation roadmaps, and future trends.
Specifically, the summit also revealed the new Cloud + AI technology that encompasses a four-dimensional cloud service platform that Huawei hopes to continue to expand to multiple businesses. According to Huawei, the KooVersion of this technology has already been implemented in 33 regions with 93 distribution areas, serving more than 170 customers worldwide. Among other components, this technology has cutting edge security features, as well as cloud location and protection.
Huawei’s commitment to Morocco and all of Africa
In an interview with Morocco World News, Adou Xianjun, General Manager of Huawei Morocco Enterprise Business Group, emphasized Huawei’s comprehensive approach at GITEX Africa.
“We are the largest sponsor of the forum. We not only sell products but also provide solutions across various industries,” he said. “We offer comprehensive infrastructure products, including cloud solutions, network solutions, and innovative solutions like the EACC and Core Center with intelligence.”
He reiterated Huawei’s commitment to ensuring a successful digital transition in its partner countries. In Morocco, Xianjun argued, this way of operating aligns with Huawei’s vision to support the North African country’s aspirations for robust and sustainable digital transformation.
“We cooperate with solution partners, deployment partners, and training providers,” he explained. “In Morocco, we aim to create an ecosystem with Huawei to better serve our clients and hope to expand this model throughout the region.”
