Rabat – Egypt and Uzbekistan are facing off today as part of the 2024 Olympics games, with both teams seeking to strengthen their positions to secure a qualification to the next round.
The match is scheduled to take place at 4 p.m. Moroccan time.
Many have praised Uzbekistan’s performance during the opening game despite its defeat against Spain 1-2.
“While Uzbekistan may have suffered defeat in their first match of the Games, they won over the hearts of many neutrals, as they left everything out on the field against the heavily fancied Spaniards,” Sports Mole said.
The sports-focused website highlighted the tough start the young Pharaohs faced during the opener.
Meanwhile, Egypt finished in a disappointing goalless draw against the Dominican Republic on Wednesday after missing several key opportunities.
“The Egyptian side failed to impress throughout the 90 minutes against an opponent savouring their inaugural Olympic appearance,” Sports Mol added.
Saturday’s Olympics fixture is set to feature several key games, including Morocco vs. Ukraine. Morocco’s team secured a well-deserved 2-1 win during their opening game against Argentina.
Morocco’s game is scheduled to take place at the same time as Egypt and Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s fixtures include Japan vs. Mali, France vs. Guinea, US vs. New Zealand, Argentina vs. Iraq, as well the Dominican Republic vs. Spain and Israel vs. Paraguay.
